Hundreds of arts groups lose cash

Hundreds of arts organisations will find out that they have lost out on Arts Council England funding later.
The council, which had its budget cut by £100m in October's Spending Review, will announce which of 1,330 grant applicants have been successful.
About 750 are expected to be awarded funding, on a fixed-term basis, from 2012 to 2015.
Speaking last month, chair Dame Liz Forgan said staff had "done our damnedest" to make the system fair.
"Good decisions" were being made by "skilled, experienced and knowledgeable people with a real passion for the arts and a real understanding of both artists and audiences", she said.
The Arts Council, which distributes money to venues, theatre groups and galleries, will announce its latest round of grants at a press conference in central London on Wednesday morning.
On Monday, MPs from the Culture, Media and Sport Committee warned that Arts Council and local authority cuts represented a "double-whammy" for organisations.
Small groups and those in non-metropolitan areas were most at risk, it warned.
"We are disturbed at reports of the number of local authorities already coming forward with substantial cuts," it said in its report.
"The speed, too, with which measures are being implemented makes it very difficult for smaller projects to look at other options, and it is of great concern that so many of these could be lost."
