Police searching for a missing Elgin teenager have said that a body has been found on a river bank.
A dog walker made the discovery at about 1500 BST on Sunday beside the River Lossie near Lossiemouth in Moray.
Grampian Police said the body had not yet been formally identified, but the parents of missing teenager Aidan McPherson had been informed.
The 19-year-old was last seen at about 2300 GMT on 31 December in the Newmill Road area of Elgin.
In January police divers searched the River Lossie near Elgin as part of the bid to find the teenager.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the cause of death.
A Grampian Police spokesman said: "On arrival officers from Grampian Police found the body of a young man lying on the east bank about one and a half miles upstream from Lossiemouth.
"No formal identification has been made at this time, but in the circumstances the family of Aidan McPherson have been contacted and made aware.
"The family are currently helping police with inquiries and will be kept fully updated as inquiries to identify the body continue."
A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
